Wouldn't it be great if you could play your favorite NES, Commodore 64, Sega Genesis, Super Nintendo, TurboGrafx 16 and other classic console and arcade games for a few dollars—on a single system? Savvy gamers already are with Wii's Virtual Console, the online store for retro gaming downloads.

With upward of 300 old-school hits, there's a lot to choose from. But if you total all games for the nine included platforms, you'll quickly realize there's also a lot unaccounted for.

What are your most wanted Virtual Console games?

I think they should re-relase the Beavis and Butthead game that came out on Sega Genesis. (good call on Road Rash BTW) Also, Tomb Raider 2 should be re-done with better graphics.

The ability to download Resident Evil Directors cut would be a little bit silly too.

And ask for Dreamcast games. Hydro Thunder? Power Stone? Seaman?!

Dreamcast games would be a HUGE memory hog for the Wii, but if they could pull it off that would be spectacular

God, I totally forgot about Mickey Mouse. I used to pick on my buddy for owning it. Then he let me borrow it and boy was I suprised. That game was FUN hands down. I'd love to see that come back. Great call on Road Rash as well. Although I'd prefer part 2 over part 1.

By the way just a terrible list by the author... come on. Not one of those in my top 5.

What I agree with that has been posted thus far:

                    Ducktales

                    Conker

Contra (already licensed to XBOX360 - won't happen)

                    RC Pro Am

                    Dragon Warrior

                    Uniracers

                    NBA Jam

How about a little love for Ken Griffey Jr's Major League Baseball?

Track & Field II. But then we have to have some kind of turbo ability on these classic controllers...

I still have my NES Max controller...

After a quick google, it looks like there are third party gamecube-style controllers for the Wii with turbo options.

One more to add... and now that I'm adding this one it's probably the one I want the most.

I've used an NES Advantage joystick for the NES since getting one in the 80s. Is there a comparable controller for Wii?

Apparently you can use your NES Advantage with the Wii. Check out the NES RetroPort.... an adapter for your old-school NES controllers that plugs into the GameCube ports on the Wii.

Wow! Just looked it up. That's a great product. With that price point, I wish it was universal (like with multiple ends for Genesis, SNES controllers too). But still, really cool. Thanks!

Just wanted to mention that Mother did have a version released on the super nintendo in the united states. It was called Earthbound. One of my favorite RPG's of all time.

Yup, and also my very first pick for a virtual console game.

If you loved Earthbound, you will love that 'Mother 3' for the GBA was translated by an independent team and is now available for download as a ROM in English. I don't condone stealing, but unless you know Japanese, it's the only way to play this game in English. And let me tell you, having played and beat it - it is UNREAL

Just wanted to let you know.. Mother was actually not released in the USA.. It is properly called Earthbound 0 and it was for the NES. The SNSE version you are talking about is actually Mother 2. Though they are a LOT a like.

                                  #12.2 - Fri Apr 17, 2009 8:06 PM EDT
                                  AuraoftheFlame

Earthbound for the SNES was a release of Mother 2. Not Mother. Mother was an NES game and was not released in the USA until.. 2002? 2003? When they released a combo version of Mother 1+2. You are most likely refering to Mother 2 in this as Mother was loosely translated into Earthbound Zero not Earthbound when it was shipped to the USA.

Aside from that =p EARTHBOUND RULES! I <3 this game along with Secret of Mana (Already on Wii), Chrono Trigger, and FF6.

Just thought I should point this out... Mother 2/Earthbound for the SNES is the only game in the series that has ever made it to US shores. Mother 1+2 was a Japan-only release.

Mother and Earthbound are my list at this point. ;)

My favorite was this old Dodgeball game where you battled different countries, and the final round was where you played a black-and-white version of your team. It seems silly, but it was so fun! I had the buttons down pat to blast the other team with a powershot, and it was so satisfying to see the other team land on their butts.

Castlevania III was awesome as well. I played it so much I dreamt about it. World of Warcraft has my attention now, but all these old-school games would make me take a WoW break.

I edited this comment, but for some reason, Newsvine won't post the changes. Anyway...

Why is Mr. Snow making such a big deal about Mother not being released outside Japan? Didn't he ever own an SNES, because that's where the sequel ended up... they just called it Earthbound.
